Caroline Polachek will release her new album ‘Desire, I Want To Turn Into You’ on February 14th.
The new record is her first since avant pop masterclass ‘PANG’ back in 2019, and it’s been trailed with a flurry of singles. Caroline Polachek’s emphatic ‘Bunny Is A Rider’ seemed to take her to another level, while ‘Billions’ was an all-out scorcher.
Out on February 14th, the record contains a healthy cast of guest collaborators, an approach emphasised by new single ‘Welcome To My Island’. A statement piece from the record, the album’s DNA is drawn from its genetic pool – it’s a song important to its creator, who even sneaked a reference to the title into her recent ‘Sunset’ video.
Online now, ‘Welcome To My Island’ is a tour de force in experimental pop music, opening with those operatic high notes before plunging into a 90s centric arrangement. Dan Nigro is on production – he also worked on Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Sour’ – assisted by Polachek herself, and programming from Danny L Harle, A. G. Cook and Jim E-Stack.
Tune in now.
