Denmark-born, London-based artist Astrid Sonne has announced a reimagining of her album, ‘Great Doubt’, released in January this year. ‘Great Doubt EDITS’ is out this Friday via Copenhagen’s Escho, and features contributions from Blood Orange, ML Buch, Smerz, HVAD, Valentina Magaletti, Lolina and more.

By calling on friends within Sonne’s creative, largely independent, orbit, ‘EDITS’ builds on the distilled, fractured minimalism of its predecessor, which toed the line between avant-garde, digital-acoustic pieces and sparse, programmed drum work. Expect an off-kilter duet with Blood Orange, a prolonged dubplate loop by HVAD, a cutup dance mantra by Smerz, as well as an orchestral opener by friend ML Buch.

On ‘EDITS’, Sonne shares: “The edits are made by friends and colleagues that I admire. The idea of doing edits rather than remixes came from wanting the artists to feel as free as possible when working with the material. Exploring different approaches is an essential part of my practice and it’s been great experiencing the album translated and redefined through their ears.”

Sonne has announced run of new UK/European dates this Autumn; her sole London show is at Corsica Studios on October 30th.

With the ‘EDITS’ reveal, Astrid Sonne has also shared a video for Staying here‘, which features footage compiled by fans from Sonne’s live shows this summer.
