Something new from the London-based artist…

Robin Murray

Art School Girlfriend leans on her rave instincts with new single ‘A Place To Lie’.

Real name Polly Mackey, the songwriter works on her own terms, fuelled by her own passions. Debut album ‘Is It Light Where You Are’ was a beautiful experience, a well-rounded creative statement that rightly earned plaudits on its 2021 release.

Since then, she’s focussed on a myriad of projects, including live shows, DJ sets, and her regular spots on female-forward radio station Foundation FM.

New song ‘A Place To Lie’ finds Art School Girlfriend pivoting once more, retaining the tender, melancholic pang of her earlier work while seizing upon subtle rave elements. The percussive rush of the digital programming carries you towards the horizon, while her hushed vocal has an Impressionistic feel.

Co-produced, written and recorded by Polly Mackey herself, ‘A Place To Lie’ opens another chapter of independence for this fascinating artist.

Tune in now.
