Manchester four-piece return…
23 · 08 · 2024
Indie risers Arkayla return with new single ‘Rita’.
The band formed in 2020, using the space in their lives opened up by the pandemic to swap ideas, and share dreams. When venues opened up once more the Manchester four-piece hit the ground running, with their electrifying live shows gaining a cult following.
Recently playing a sold out London headliner, Arkayla then hopped on the ferry for a special set at the Isle of Wight festival.
Urgent indie guitar lines worthy of the Smiths, the band also tap into the melodic suss of The La’s. Take new single ‘Rita’ – all working class charm and wit, it blends their indie appeal with some frisky Brazilian rhythms.
A summer showcase, ‘Rita’ builds on the material that has seen them win favour with Guy Garvey, John Kennedy, Radio X and XS Manchester.
Vocalist Cal shares…
‘Rita’ tells the story of someone who’s got nothing left to lose and everything to gain, even if it’s just for fame. It’s got a naughty bossa nova backbeat behind it, never fails to get a crowd moving.
Tune in now.
