Anya Taylor-Joy will have a role in Dune: Part Two, appearing alongside an all-star cast that includes Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Florence Pugh among several others.

Taylor-Joy made a surprise appearance at the film’s premiere in London on Thursday, and Variety confirmed that the actress will be featured in the film. The extent of her screen time for the upcoming picture isn’t clear. The outlet reported that she is slated to play “a major character from the franchise,” but didn’t disclose who to avoid spoilers. The film features an incredibly deep cast that also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautistal, Christopher Walken, and Javier Bardem.

Taylor-Joy called participating in the film “a dream come true” in an interview with Warner Bros. “The books are incredible, but with this cast and with Denis, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

As the film’s director Denis Villeneuve told Entertainment Weekly of hiding Taylor-joy’s involvement in the movie: “It required so much work to keep that secret. Everybody signed with their blood.”

Taylor-Joy’s casting only adds more fuel to what Rolling Stone already called one of the most anticipated films of 2024. It adds to an already busy slate for the actress this year as she’s also the lead in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, set to release in May.

The first Dune installment was a critical and commercial success, taking in over $400 million worldwide and eventually taking home six Oscars on 10 nominations, including a nomination for Best Picture. (The film lost to Coda that year.) Dune: Part Two will release on March 1.
