Anna Blaise steps into a solo realm with ‘Girl I Know’.

The musician has been working on her craft for years now, first in a band managed by the renowned Anthony Addis – who managed Muse for over 12 years – before stepping into her current solo iteration.

After countless studio sessions, she’s now ready to unveil something new. ‘Girl I Know’ is about befriending yourself, and learning to love your own quirks and foibles – and how that can impact on your art.

A work of curious confidence, ‘Girl I Know’ finds Anna Blaise putting her emotions to the forefront, while learning to step past them. She comments:

“Sitting at the piano isn’t cliché ‘therapeutic’—it actually fucking hurts. It’s just me and the keys, and I’m sat there stone-cold sober with a voice in my head telling me I’m shit. But then, the music flows, the melodies come, and a song is born. You know, making art can be a lonely process, but as my best friend Jess says, who’s a sound healer: ‘When you’re forced to feel, only then can you heal…’”

A sign of her independence, ‘Girl I Know’ is an infectious alt-pop hymn that doubles as a mission statement.

“It’s kinda like when people get married to themselves,” she explains. “I wanted to commit fully to my life as an artist, so I sacked off the need for anyone else to validate this process, whether that’s a music exec or my partner.”

Tune in now.
