The world’s first net-zero carbon shoe is a revolutionary move for sustainability…
Today, at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, San Franciso-based, New Zealand-founded sustainable footwear brand Allbirds unveiled its highly anticipated M0.0NSHOT design, a revolutionary move in the world of sustainable fashion.
Founded in 2014 by professional footballer turned entrepreneur and footwear designer, Allbirds and its CEO Tim Brown have been on an almost decade-long journey to advance sustainability and ethical practices in footwear design and manufacturing. After teaming up with engineer and renewable expert Joey Swillinger, Allbirds has flourished in innovation and ethical manufacturing, constantly evolving and improving its carbon footprint.
The M0.0NSHOT silhouette marks the world’s first net-zero carbon shoe and boasts a landmark carbon footprint of net 0.0kg CO2e, using carbon-negative, regenerative wool that wraps the entirety of the shoe in a striking, uniform look.
Tim Brown took to the stage at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen to unveil the shoe and to announce that Allbirds will be open-sourcing the design and methodology behind the M0.0NSHOT via its ‘Recipe B0.0K’ – a toolkit detailing each step behind the shoe, including materials, manufacturing, transportation, end-of-life, and carbon footprint calculation.
The Allbirds M0.0NSHOT will be available exclusively at Selfridges between July 3rd and August 6th as part of a carbon-themed pop-up and will launch commercially in the Spring of 2024.
