Plus opening day glory featuring Channel Tres, Thundercat, Lancey Foux and more.

Victoria Park will never be the same again.

Last Friday, on the hallowed grounds of London’s oldest public communal space, All Points East delivered, arguably, the strongest line-up in their near two week takeover.

The primetime slot was reserved for Kaytranada who distilled much of his collab-heavy latest work, ‘TIMELESS’, into a tempo-shifting, breathless set. Tems delivered a crowd-pleasing performance, drawing on material form this year’s debut album ‘Born In The Wild’, whilst honouring the universally-adored ‘For Broken Records’-era which first catalysed the Nigerian singer’s career.

Victoria Monét proved her mettle as this generation’s all-around performer; backed by troupe of synchronized, sequined dancers, the Sacramento artist furnished the stage with a slickly-produced set paying homage to performance GOATs – MJ, Janet and Beyoncé – whilst carving her name into the RnB pantheon.

A supporting but no less impressive cast of artists – Thundercat, Lancey Foux, Channel Tres, Maleigh – coasted through styles, moods and inflections, in what emerged as a showcase of diasporic talent.

As APE draws to a close this weekend with the likes LCD Soundsystem, Phoenix, Jai Paul and Jockstrap performing, we’re already nostalgic for what transpired, whilst dreaming of who will grace the East London Eden next year.

In the meantime, enjoy these images from photographer Chloe Newman who captured all the mainstage action on the opening day.
