Metronomy and Jessica Winter combine for a fresh take on ‘I lost my mind’.
The UK band recently kicked off a mammoth 47 date European tour, culminating in a special edition of their recent ‘Small World’ album. This new compilation features a plethora of guests, including Porij, Sébastien Tellier, Katy J Pearson, and more.
Jessica Winter appears on a new version of ‘I lost my mind’, a take that injects fresh layers of disco deviance into the original. The trippy effects nod to Metronomy’s psych-pop roots, while her dulcet vocal takes the song for a diva-esque trip on the dancefloor.
An exuberant disco burner, the song even contains a lowkey Easter egg, one that cross-references another Metronomy song in the process. Jessica Winter comments…
“As soon as I heard the held high notes in the chorus I thought the song could go in a Kylie direction; the key change at the end then went quite ABBA. Everything on the track was made from analogue synths and drum machines and there’s real strings on there too; if you listen closely you can hear a hook pinched from a different track on Metronomy’s latest album.“
Tune in now.
‘Small World (Special Edition)’ will be released on November 29th.
