It’s official: we’re getting another anime in the Cyberpunk universe.

During Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streamer had a short tease confirming it was teaming with CD Projekt Red on another anime project. Before now, CDPR said it’d be open and willing to do more after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was such a success that it got most people to come around on Cyberpunk 2077 and its redemption story. And it seems they’re ready to make good on that desire in the next few years as CDPR starts “laying the groundwork” on what will eventually become a full sequel…presumably right after Witcher 4 is out the door. (That’s also getting another anime, funnily enough.)

Unfortunately, nothing else was said about the new Cyberpunk anime, beyond that it’ll once again be set in the game’s central location of Night City. (It’s not even clear if it’ll be a show or a movie, a la Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.) Previously, CDPR stated it’d like to keep Edgerunners as a one-season show and tell different stories, which may put the kibosh on any hopes to see more of Lucy and…well, pretty much just her. As Polygon notes, the teaser also doesn’t mention Edgerunners’ animation studio Trigger, just that Netflix Animation will be involved. The streamer’s in-house studio co-produces and develops shows and films (either internally or externally) like Blue Eye Samurai and The Sea Beast.

More info on Cyberpunk’s next anime venture will come “soon,” according to the teaser’s YouTube summary. In the meantime, Edgerunners is still on Netflix waiting to be binged and rewatched until we learn more. And once you’re done with that, you can look forward to the live-action Cyberpunk show and Lucy popping into Guilty Gear Strive a guest fighter sometime in 2025.
