Lionsgate’s looking to continue the John Wick franchise, and spinoffs are part of that equation. It’s easy to forget, but there’s already one on the way in the form of John Wick Presents: Ballerina. If you’re thinking you’d like to finally see something from that, good news, lead actor Ana de Armas says we’re not too far off from that happening.

At a recent interview with Collider at TIFF, de Armas revealed she’d been told the film would be getting its first trailer “soon.” Having seen it herself, she was pretty glowing about it, even as she admitted to being naturally biased in its favor. She went so far as to call the trailer “beautiful,” and she’s “very proud” of her work on the film overall. Talking broadly about the movie, she teased it as “really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s sexy, it’s very John Wick. I think people are going to be surprised.”

Directed by Len Wiseman of Underworld fame, Ballerina is set between the third and fourth mainline films and centers on Rooney, a ballerina-assassin on the hunt for the people who murdered her family. Along with returning franchise stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick (in one of his final appearances) in their respective roles, the cast includes Gabriel Byrne (Hereditary) as the main villain, Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune), Norman Reedus (Walking Dead), Catalina Sandino Moreno (From), and David Castañeda (Umbrella Academy).

Ballerina was originally slated to come out back in June, but got delayed for reshoots with help from producer (and mothership franchise director) Chad Stahelski. After it popped up at CinemaCon 2024 this past April, it’s good to know that we’ll finally get our first look at the movie (and potential franchise starter) ahead of its June 6, 2025 release.
