“I’m contemplating the extent to which I play the game.”

Tennessee-raised, LA-based artist Samara Cyn has shared her new single ‘Chrome’.
Produced by in-demand Grammy and Oscar-winning producer D’Mile – the man behind Lady Gaga’s ‘Die With A Smile’ and hits by Victoria Monet and Lucky Daye – the brooding ‘Chrome’ chronicles the clash between validation and the pursuit of truth in one’s artistry. Samara’s nimble flow and naked bombast signals a rising talent unafraid of digging deep and revealing uncomfortable truths.
Of the single, Samara says: “I wrote this song after a somewhat heated discussion about the reality of making art at a high level in today’s culture. The balance (or maybe battle) between true authenticity and being able to translate to a large amount of people. How much are you willing to give to be a part of it all? Or to convince people that you’re worth looking at or hearing. Or do you even have to? This song is about giving away the last of you in a desire to so badly be a part of something and then getting there to realize it never even existed in the way you thought. Sometimes we’re the ones that make up this idea of what we should be and then blame it on externals.”
Samara has risen through the ranks with viral tracks ‘KATANA‘ and ‘massa freestyle‘. She’s gained early early co-signs from the likes of Doja Cat, Erykah Badu, Rapsody, Teddy Swims. Samara’s new single was memorialised with a COLORS performance, and she recently opened for Isaiah Rashad on his Cilvia Demo 10 Year Anniversary Tour, emerging as a tastemaker’s favourite this year.
The accompanying ‘Chrome’ visual, directed by Hannah Hussain and Nasser Boulaich, captures the inner turmoil at the heart of the song, revealing a hyper-personal chapter in Samara’s story.
