And a debut album is on the horizon…

28 · 08 · 2024

Welsh cult heroes Melin Melyn return with new song ‘Vitamin D’.

The band are firm festival favourites, with their wonderful live shows moving from the sublime to the absurd and back again – with a few costume changes thrown in for good measure. Deliriously original psych-pop with a countrified bent, Melin Melyn thrive through their love of a decent pop song, and their disregard for rules.

New single ‘Vitamin D’ is their first for almost 12 months – since 2023 release ‘I Paint Dogs’ – and it taps into everything that makes Melin Melyn sublime. Fun, off kilter, and wonderfully imaginative, it’s a sunshine embrace from Cymru – how could we resist, eh?

A nod towards their debut album – expected to land early next year – ‘Vitamin D’ is just right for the final leg of festival season.

Lead singer Gruff Glyn comments…

Ah, a bit of Vitamin D on a sunny day. Pretty essential for most of us, right? Not for the protagonist of this song, who’s fallen head over heels for a computer character called Annie.

What’s the point of catching some rays if you can stay inside in your dark room until the early hours of the morning, immersed in a virtual world with your one and only? Don’t you dare question the authenticity of his romance though, or you’ll end up in a coffin… like his mother.

Tune in now.
