With a wicked video, too…

Thus Love return with new single ‘Birthday Song’ and plans for an incoming album.

The band are based in Brattleboro, an arts hub in Vermont with a close knit DIY scene. Thus Love charmed on their debut album, a riveting fusion of precocious post-punk, indie rock songwriting, and some unexpected elements.

New album ‘All Pleasure’ is out on November 1st, and it finds the four-piece moving into a different era. There’s a real sense of directness on ‘Birthday Song’, with Thus Love throwing a dose of pop into the mix, before rallying around the cry of “remember to breathe / this is the worst it will ever be…”

The video for ‘Birthday Song’ was shot on location in Southern Vermont, directed by Augie Voss and Benni Shumlin.

The directors picked up on the song’s themes, aiming to emulate “a mishmash of lust, ruralness, yearning, pop, and queerdom.”

Vocalist/guitarist Echo Mars shares the following: “‘Birthday Song’ is a simple song about friendship and how we sometimes don’t give those kinds of platonic relationships the respect and care they need to thrive. We don’t have the same language that we do for romantic partnerships but I think those relationships are every bit as important in making us feel safe, secure and validated. When it came time to select the first single, ‘Birthday Song’ felt like the perfect way to introduce the new version of Thus Love and our new friends, Ally and Shane.”

Tune in now.
