Rap great LL Cool J will release new album ‘The FORCE’ on September 6th.
A pivotal figure in the evolution of hip-hop, LL Cool J is one of the truly iconic figures from Golden Age. His new album, however, takes him back to the roots – wiping the slate clean, he put himself back to rap school, building anew in the process.
Out in September, ‘The FORCE’ links LL Cool J with Q-Tip, another seminal force in hip-hop’s firmament. The process was, the MC affirms, like “learning how to rap again”; “It’s like a director going back to film school after he’s had blockbusters,” LL says, or “Denzel going back to acting class.”
The full album is out shortly, with LL Cool J have signalled his re-emergence with recent single ‘Saturday Night Special’ (featuring Rick Ross and Fat Joe)’.
The record features Nas, Eminem, Snoop Dogg (and more), with LL commenting:
“We’re talking 14 tracks of straight fire, all crafted by myself and the one and only Q-Tip. When you listen to this album, you’re not just hearing music, you’re experiencing a whole new vibe, a whole new level of artistic passion.”
Tune in now.
