A radiant, heart-felt introduction to the Brighton-based songstress…
10 · 05 · 2024
aakira fae has shared her debut single titled ‘butterflies’.
A stripped-back, ethereal introduction to the Brighton-based singer-songwriter, ‘butterflies’ discovers a new voice within alt-pop. Spotlighting her feather-light vocals through a bright, hazy production, the track captures a euphoric, summer-tinted romance.
Echoing the influence of Suki Waterhouse, Olivia Dean and Arlo Parks, aakira fae finds her lyrics from within, an exploration of relationships, emotions and fantasy. Speaking on her latest release, the artist shares:
‘butterflies’ is about that feeling you get when you’re falling for someone, that feeling like you can’t get enough of them, thinking of them makes you a bit feral, that daydreamy floating away feeling with the ‘ahhhh’ makes it feel playful and youthful, like falling in love for the first time… the butterfly represents transformation, growth, change, as does the word ‘akira’, meaning dawn and rebirth.
Pieced together alongside producer and collaborator Alex Collins, the pair combine elements of R&B and neo-soul with warm acoustics, delicate harmonies and keys, concluding as a radiant and heart-felt listen.
Tune in now.
