Billy Dee Williams Says He'd Return As Lando Again For “A Lot Of Money”
This deal needs to get better for the 86-year-old actor to revisit a galaxy far, far away.
If he’s going to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian again, actor Billy Dee Williams wants to secure the bag to do so. The 86-year-old basically said he expects a lot of Galactic credits to return to Star Wars.
Speaking with RadioTimes, Williams was blunt about portraying Lando one more time after coming back for 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. “Pay me a lot of money, and I’ll sell my soul,” Williams said. The actor brought the character to life in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, followed by Return of the Jedi. While Williams didn’t return to live-action Star Wars until Skywalker, he did voice Lando across the years in various projects, like Robot Chicken and The Lego Movie.
Earlier this year, Williams defended Lando’s decision to bargain with Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. The actor said he’s received fan backlash for decades about the choice to betray Han Solo, even by kids at his daughter’s school back in the day. This led to Williams ultimately saying: “Did anybody die? Nobody died!”
Last month, Williams released a memoir titled What Have We Here. As for Star Wars, the next movie will be The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is planned to premiere in 2026. There is a Rey-focused Star Wars movie in development, too. That’s one where Williams returning as Lando could make sense, though there’s no release window announced at this time.
