Marlon Vera has clapped back over Aljamain Sterling after the former champ claimed ‘Chito’s’ UFC 299 camp wasn’t good.
Vera is set to headline UFC 299 on Saturday as he rematches Sean O’Malley for the undisputed bantamweight title. It’s a highly-anticipated matchup but heading into the bout, Sterling took to his YouTube channel and revealed Vera didn’t have a good training camp which is why he’s picking O’Malley to win.
“The only thing I’m concerned about is I heard, I’m hearing through the grapevine that he didn’t really have a great camp, from a lot of guys that trained with Chito. I don’t know how true that is. So with that said, I’m leaning towards O’Malley to get it done,” Sterling said.
Marlon Vera was asked about Aljo’s comments at Wednesday’s UFC 299 media day and he clapped back over the former champ saying that isn’t the case at all.
“Aljo, dude, Aljo, dude, he’s so f******g hungry for attention. He never got attention in the UFC. He became a world champion, he defended, and he got booed inf******g New Jersey against f******g Cejudo,” Marlon Vera said at UFC 299 media day. “Who gets booed against Cejudo? Holy shit, people f*cking hate you. Now you’re becoming a YouTuber because your fighting career is probably not going well. I don’t want to knock down anybody because I want to focus on my fight and keep my karma in the right direction. I mean, he heard? We have a private gym. There’s no janitor in my gym, you know what I’m saying? Like we don’t have people. It’s the same three people year round. But, Saturday night, you will see how bad my camp was.
“I’m a guy that in what, 22, 23 fights in the UFC, has never come with an excuse like most of these fighters. All these fighters have something to complain, ‘Oh, this and that happened. Oh, I’m going through this,” Vera continued. “Oh, I didn’t have this.’ I’ve never said anything, so that should tell you something about me. Aljo, f**k off. You have a fight ahead. Focus on your life. You’re a f******g loser, dude.”
It will be interesting to see how Marlon Vera performs on Saturday after the recent rumors that his fight camp was not the greatest. But, ‘Chito’ has full confidence he will get his hand raised and beat Sean O’Malley again, this time to become the bantamweight champion.
