The country star and Hootie & the Blowfish singer faces charges of simple possession, casual exchange, and violation of registration law
Darius Rucker was arrested on Thursday on drug charges in Williamson County, Tennessee, according to multiple reports. The country singer was released on a $10,500 bond on the same day.
Rucker, a country music star and the singer of Nineties stalwarts Hootie & the Blowfish, faces charges of simple possession, casual exchange, and violation of registration law, reports local outlet WSMV.
“Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” Rucker’s attorney, Mark Puryear, said in a statement to Rolling Stone.
Rucker is set to hit the road with Hootie & the Blowfish this summer on the band’s Summer Camp With Trucks tour, starting May 30 in Dallas, Texas. The trek, which includes fellow band members Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, will mark Hootie & the Blowfish’s first full tour since 2019.

Rucker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December, where he was joined by his bandmates. “This is stuff you don’t even dream about when you’re from South Carolina,” Rucker said while accepting the honor. “You know, struggling, growing up, and just wanting to be a singer — that’s all I ever wanted to be was a singer. But you never dream that this stuff is going to happen…To be here, right here with a star on the Walk of Fame…it’s the biggest thing that’s happened to me.”
In April, Rucker made an appearance at the CMT Music Awards to help honor the influence that the 1990s pop environment has had on today’s country music.
