Beverly Hills, 90210 actor Ian Ziering has opened up about being swarmed by a gang of mini bikers while driving with his daughter down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.

“Yesterday, I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini bikes. While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation,” Ziering wrote on his Instagram page Monday.

“In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself,” he added. Ziering said he and his child emerged from the incident unharmed.

But YouTube footage of the confrontation indicated the actor having to fight off multiple bikers before reaching safety. Ziering for a decade starred as Steve Sanders on Beverly Hills, 90210 before reinventing himself as the star of the Sharknado movies, while also joining the cast of Swamp Thing, the DC Universe series.

The actor said the incident left him “deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace. This situation highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior.”

Representatives for the Los Angeles Police Department could not be contacted for comment on Ziering’s run-in with the bikers, and to indicate whether an incident report had been filed.

“As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient. I have always been an advocate for standing up against intimidation and misconduct, and this incident reinforces my belief in the importance of personal and community safety,” the actor added on his Instagram post.
