Tyson Fury has sent Alexander Volkanovski some support after his loss at UFC 294.

‘The Great’ returned to the octagon over the weekend for a rematch with Islam Makhachev. In February, Alexander Volkanovski stepped up to face the lightweight champion, suffering a unanimous decision loss. However, stepping up on short notice, circumstances were much different heading into Saturday’s clash.

In the main event of UFC 294, Alexander Volkanovski suffered a first-round knockout loss. The defeat was a hard-to-watch one, made worse by his post-fight comments. Although he’s since clarified his comments, the featherweight admitted that he was struggling with his mental health prior to the fight. That seemingly caught the attention of Tyson Fury.

‘The Gypsy King’ is currently set to return to the boxing ring on Saturday night against Francis Ngannou. In a recent interview with TheMacLife, Tyson Fury sent a surprising message of support to Alexander Volkanovski. As someone who’s dealt with similar issues, he believes ‘The Great’ needs to dust himself off and get back in the cage.

“I’ve been in that situation all year,” Tyson Fury stated in the interview reacting to Alexander Volkanovski’s post-fight comments following UFC 294. “I’ve not boxed since last year, early December of 2022, and I didn’t even know if I would box again. Out of the blue, all of this has come, and now I’ve got not one, but two fights lined up.”

He continued, “What I would say to Alexander is to keep going. He’s a very good professional athlete, and you win some, you lose some. Dust yourself off, get back in there, and kick ass!”

What do you make of these comments from Tyson Fury? Were you surprised by Alexander Volkanovski’s UFC 294 loss over the weekend?
