The Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay is joining those who are tired of the media frenzy surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, especially when it impacts football games.
During Thursday’s episode of The View‘s Behind the Table podcast, when asked how she felt about the whole Swift-Kelce phenomenon, she responded, “Hate it. Hate it. There’s no other emotion that comes out of me than hating it.”
Lindsay, who starred in season 13 of ABC’s popular dating show, is also a fan of the NFL, which is why she finds it “exhausting” constantly seeing Swifties obsessing over the sport just because of the singer’s rumored romance with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
“It’s a little obnoxious, the Taylor Swift fans,” she told The View executive producer Brian Teta. “Love that you’re into the sport, but they’re not, they’re into the Taylor–Travis Kelce of it. It’s too much information. The media is playing into it too much. People are coming to games wearing shirts that say ‘Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’ It’s just a little disrespectful to the sport and to the game and even to Travis Kelce. I know I’m being so negative. I just can’t see the fun.”
Though Lindsay noted that the attention from a “whole new audience” has been “amazing” for Kelce since he’s now tapped into Swift’s fanbase, she still doesn’t “want to constantly see flashes of [Swift] with Donna Kelce [Travis’ mom] in the suite and whatever famous friends she decides to bring” to the games.
Lindsay added that she gets why people are fixated on the duo, especially since they’re both superstars in their respective industries, but she just expressed that she doesn’t “need it in my face all the time” while she’s trying to watch football.
Kelce has also previously been outspoken about the media and NFL’s spotlight on the Grammy-winning singer, saying all the coverage of Swift at his games is “overdoing it.”
“I think everybody is just, like, overwhelmed,” the star player said. “I think it’s fun when they show who all is at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, they’re overdoing it a little bit, especially my situation.”
Lindsay’s comments came before Swift was spotted at Arrowhead Stadium Thursday night for her third appearance at a Chiefs game as the team took on the Denver Broncos.
