Mark Ronson, the British music producer and songwriter who has an Oscar, seven Grammys and countless hit tunes to his name will be this year’s recipient of the Newport Beach Film Festival‘s Outstanding Achievement in Music Award. He most recently executive produced the soundtrack, co-wrote the score and co-wrote numerous tracks (including “I’m Just Ken”) for Greta Gerwig’s summer blockbuster Barbie.
The award will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 14, immediately following a noon recording with Ronson of a live episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, hosted by yours truly, on the festival’s main stage at Fashion Island in the Bloomingdale’s courtyard. Attendance is free of charge.
“The Newport Beach Film Festival is extremely proud to recognize and honor Mark Ronson,” Gregg Schwenk, the festival’s co-founder and CEO, tells THR. “Mark’s impact on music is legendary. His collaborations with artists ranging from Amy Winehouse to Bruno Mars to Lady Gaga have been unforgettable. His latest endeavor, Barbie, illuminates his unique ability to shape our cultural landscape.”
The 24th annual Newport Beach Film Festival will run from Oct. 12 through Oct. 19.
