Cyrill Reiser Learns From The Darkness With ‘Soul’s On Fire’

Cyrill Reiser has shared his new EP ‘Soul’s On Fire’ in full.

The music on the new project arose from a dark time in his life, when he was left feeling as though his actions had no meaning. Gradually, light began to shine, and it took songwriting to bring his world back into focus.

Now based in Seattle, his work recalls aspects of Elliot Smith in its tender touch, with Cyrill utilising all the emotion at his disposal. There’s a melodic inflection, too, with Cyrill clearly relishing the act of songwriting, the feat of bringing music to life.

Out now, the title track ‘Soul’s On Fire’ is a deeply enriching work, one that locates solace in his craft. Cyrill Reiser says:

“I wrote ‘Soul’s On Fire’ during a time when I had hit rock bottom and was feeling utterly dejected. However, in that moment of despair, I had an epiphany: I had nothing to lose and everything to gain by mustering the courage to risk really living again. The song is a powerful testament to the transformative power of that process, and how it can light a fire within one’s soul.”
