“We wanted to bring the spirit of the revolt to the music…”

Atlanta-based four-piece, Sword II, have unveiled their debut album ‘Spirit World Tour’.

Formed in 2018, the band is comprised of Mari González (bass and vocals), Corey Zuko (guitar and vocals), Travis Arnold (guitar and vocals) and José “Frio” Izaguirre (drums and vocals). Recorded between 2020-2022, ‘Spirit World Tour’ is the result of sound-twisting experimentation between four disparate personalities, that manages to retain a tightly-woven cohesion across it’s eight tracks.

From the psych-inflected opener ‘Damage’, to the lackadaisical ‘Body’ and the mind-numbing dark wave distortion of ‘Crystal’, Sword II bring brooding theatrics and downbeat euphony to a cleaved-open, introspective narrative. An expression of the collective’s shared experiences in Atlanta’s DIY scene, the band explore love, neurosis, trauma and fantasy on a spirited debut.
