There’s something about Faye Webster. The songwriter’s magnificent breakout album ‘I Know I’m Funny haha’ displayed her wonderful lyrical pen, creating songs blessed with countless ear-worm hooks and a fine line in self-deprecating humour.
Breaking your heart while remaining stuck in your head for days, she followed this with extensive touring, and the release of her re-casting EP ‘Car Therapy Sessions’.
New single ‘But Not Kiss’ represents her first song in two years, and it opens a fresh chapter for this unique voice. A warming return, Faye Webster’s incisive pen dares to speak the truth about that well-worn topic, love.
Unfurling with confidence, ‘But Not Kiss’ is the first sign of Faye Webster’s current direction, as she builds towards an all-new album. “I think it could be a really romantic song or a really anti-romantic song,” she comments. “It’s something I’ve looked for but struggled to find in other love songs, for them to describe this conflict or contradiction.”
Out now, ‘But Not Kiss’ comes alongside a video directed by Kyle Ng of Brain Dead and filmed at Los Angeles’ famed Bob Baker Marionette Theatre.
