Léa Sen knows where to draw the line. As an artist, she thrives on minimalism, using spartan arrangements to intensity her wonderful sense of world-building. Born in Cergy, near Paris, but now based in London, her work contains remarkable power, rooted in a penchant for emotion-shifting melody.
New EP ‘You Of Now, Pt. 2’ is out on April 21st via Partisan, and follows her introductory EP last year. This incoming project thrives on empathy, with Léa Sen commenting: “I want people to feel like they’re not crazy. We’re all going through it, and it doesn’t mean that you’re not worthy or you’re inadequate. And also maybe a reminder to myself.”
New single ‘Luv Him (about u)’ is a slender, potent piece of musicality, with the French artist honing in on an almost dream-like sense of desire. The wistful songwriting touches on the outer fringes of R&B in places, before ricocheting off into uncharted territories.
Building to that emphatic chorus, it’s a song that leaves an incredible impact. Léa Sen comments…
“‘Luv Him (about u)’ is about the desire for a relationship to be something it could never be. Pretending that you love someone more than you actually do (or not at all). Sometimes when everything including your own emotions are contradicting themselves, pleasure (or pain) is so simple and straightforward that it’s all you can hold onto.”
Tune in now.
