Max Rad has shared his new album ‘Joy Wonder’ is full.
The record was sparked by relocation, with the pandemic – and its associated lockdowns – forcing Max Rad out of the city. Returning to his native Cornwall, he re-immersed himself in landscapes he knew well, but found himself exploring them from different angles.
As a result, his music began to change as well. Using creativity as an anchor, his curious electronic pop took on shades of bedroom artists such as Toro y Moi, he also looks to established dance names like Maribou State and Caribou.
Out now, new album ‘Joy Wonder’ boasts nine tracks, including stellar standouts ‘Moonshine’ and ‘Red Skies’. The title track received a full single release, with Max Rad commenting…
I wanted to make something as hopeful and positive as I could at a time when things felt very unsettled around me. The record was made while living in Cornwall and was inspired by the landscape as much as it was missing the things you get when you live in a city.
I had spent months listening to music made for the club when walking alone out on the cliffs, which is a pretty awe-inspiring experience and I think that is what gave birth to this album. It is like a snapshot in time, one that feels hopeful for the future and working through the grief.
Tune in now.
