Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet are making their return with latest single ‘How Could I’.

The track offers a glimpse into the outfit’s studio album,  ‘It’s Been A While Buddy’. Melding their influences in blues, rock, jazz and soul, they’ve now coined a distinct folk-hop sound. Ríoghnach Connolly’s vocals are at their most fierce and punchy, fluctuating between a broad range that has previously crowned the voice as BBC Radio 2’s folk singer of the year. Paired with Honeyfoot’s growling production, the group work in synergy to explore toxic relationships and their entrapping dynamics.

The past few years have earned the outfit recognition across the industry, headlining the likes of Shambala, Beautiful Days and Moovin Festival. Equally bold in attempting to carve its own path, previous album ‘Orange Whip’ adheres to the group’s versatility and challenges its listener. Receiving prestigious co-signs from Jools Holland and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Craig Charles, it’s clear that Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet are in their prime.

‘How Could I’ is a high-impact moment for the outfit, sure to excel across local and far-reaching crowds..

Riognach details: “I suppose the lyrical content is a bit dark as essentially it’s about marital abuse, control, domestic coercion or a toxic relationship. A partner who cannot let go of their abuser, or the abused being unable to see a life without them in it. It pivots from not realising that they were in a toxic relationship to realising that even if they did, they would have suffered it willingly anyway. It speaks to how easy it is to be in a place until after the fact. To be blinded by love. How inevitable self denial leads to combustion. How bad patterns of behaviour left unchecked can spiral..”
