“I’m so sorry to anyone who is disappointed…”

Florence + The Machine has broken her foot, with those upcoming UK shows now being postponed.
Florence Welch is a deeply physical live performer, and so it proved at last night’s sold out show in London’s O2 Arena. Hurling herself into the performance, Florence + The Machine matched fan favourites to material from new album ‘Dance Fever’.
An album about dancing yourself to death – inspired by historic examples of dance-related hysteria – the O2 Arena show pushed Florence Welch to her limit. At times pausing the show, the singer revealed she had cut her foot, which necessitated off-stage treatment.
Returning to finish the show with a mighty encore, it seems that the damage done is slightly more severe than first thought. In a note to fans, Florence Welch says: “I’m so sorry to say that after an X ray it seems I was dancing on a broken foot last night.”
“It is not in my nature to postpone a show, and certainly not a UK tour, but I’m in pain and as dancers know, dancing on an injury is not a good idea. And have been told not to perform to avoid further damage.”
The ‘Dance Fever’ tour will now be re-scheduled, with fans urged to hold on to their tickets. “I’m heartbroken as the Dance Fever tour has been my favourite show we have ever put on.
The communion with you. Your beautiful faces shining.”
Florence finishes: “I love you so much, and I’m so sorry to anyone who is disappointed. My heart is aching. I can’t wait to be back on my feet and back in your arms.”
